One specific step: merging two letters into a syllable — слияние. It is for a child who already knows what each letter sounds like but cannot yet turn М and А into МА. If he does not know the letters yet, this is the wrong app for now.
Because that is the lesson. Holding М all the way into А is what a merge is; stopping the sound and starting a new one produces «эм-а», which is the habit the app exists to avoid. The drag is slow on purpose — the sound needs room to slide.
Those consonants can be held for as long as a finger takes to move. К, П and Т cannot — they are one burst, with nothing to glide. Starting with the stretchable ones means the very first syllable he ever builds can be heard merging. The alphabet's own order is no help here.
No — it is the point. Each syllable returns after one session, then two, four, eight, sixteen. If he misses one it comes back the next time instead. Nothing is ever dropped for good, and nothing is drilled after he has it.
Wait a moment. If he does not move, a translucent tile makes the trip for him, pauses, and does it again until he takes over. There is nothing to read and nothing to press first — the only thing that does anything is dragging a letter to the left-hand one.
A few minutes. A session is a small, fixed number of syllables and then it ends on purpose, rather than running until he loses interest. Coming back tomorrow is worth more than a long session today.
It is in a file inside the app on that device, and there is no account, so it does not sync. Restoring an iOS backup to a new device brings it along. See the privacy policy for why there is nowhere else it could be.
Never. There is no network code in the app at all, so it works identically in aeroplane mode.
